My assistant Marta is moving with her family from Berkeley to Bangkok next week! Today we’re taking her out to a farewell team dinner in partnership with Uber. Here’s how the evening went…
As I’ve mentioned before, I use Uber all the time. To and from the airport and train station, and out to meet friends or a date with Jared in the evening. Tonight, when I popped into the Uber to head to dinner I was happy to find a new screen pop up in my Uber app called Safety Toolkit (just be sure your app is updated).
Inside the toolkit you can find three new features:
1. Trusted Contacts where you can select specific people you want to notify of your trip and real time updates so they know exactly where you’re at. This is great for when you’re headed to someone’s house to give them an ETA, or headed home for the evening and your friend/family member want to be sure you get back safe.
2. Uber’s Safety Center which houses things like insurance protection and information, community guidelines, and other safety materials.
3. Emergency Assistance which can immediately call 911 and share location with authorities.
Safety is always a concern with ride sharing so I’m happy to see these new features roll out. It’s great to see Uber taking tangible steps to making positive changes, improving their service and really putting the safety of their users first.
Next Gaby arrived and we all headed back to the bar and waited for Sarah (Ashley was sick, we were sad she couldn’t come!). A bit of an update on how our team works and what roles people play since a lot has changed the last year. Marta has been my in-studio assistant for about a year now and works on some behind the scenes organizational work as well like. A little bit of everything. Gaby works as a second assistant when needed, she also helps a lot with modeling and travel pieces. But mostly she’s busy with her gorgeous shop Small Lot.
Time to head in to dinner! There was a big Warriors game going on so it felt empty, when normally it’s pretty packed. We all ordered drinks, three of us ordered the fish, and then all picked at Sarah’s delicious meatballs. I insisted on dessert and the mocha pot de creme did not disappoint. We chatted late until we realized we were the last ones still at the restaurant. I almost always hire good friends to work with me, or women I know I could be friends with. I’ve never regretted it and count all my Say Yes ladies (past and present) dear friends.
Headed home in an Uber and used the Trusted Contacts to make sure everyone arrived home safe. You can notify your friends within the app when you get home or update on your status. Such a perfect evening out.
Thanks to Uber for sponsoring this post.
I love the heels one of the girls is wearing. The 3-strapper. Would you mind asking her if they are comfortable? Looks like Madewell. Thanks!
What a fun evening. I miss going to Penrose (especially for brunch), but since the sexual harassment allegations against the chef and owner Charlie Howell, I don’t go to any of his restaurants.
Agreed. What a creepy guy! Ugh. Honestly his behavior almost makes Travis Kalanick seem mild.
DIdn’t realize this was also one of his restaurants! Bummer, we’ll have to find another favorite spot to gather
Yes, I have also been avoiding the Charlie Hallowell restaurants (I was so pleased that he sold boot and shoe – was so glad to go back!)
I’ve been meaning to go back to Boot and Shoe! I live pretty close to Pizzaiolo and miss it so.
What a nice intimate dinner! The restaurant looks very cosy! 🙂
