When the kids are in school or asleep, it feels soul sucking to spend those precious hours cleaning and organizing, so I’m always looking for ways to clean with my kids and today we’re sharing 7 fun ways in partnership with P&G as part of their Healthy Homes Walgreens campaign…
Sometimes it feels like it’s not worth the hassle to teach kids how to do chores (it takes way longer to teach them to fold than fold myself), but I have to constantly remind myself of how much of a benefit it is to them, and to our home long term. That’s what the Healthy Homes campaign is about and I’m excited to share with you a few ideas on how we’ve made chores more enjoyable for everyone.
Walgreens and P&G have partnered on a Healthy Homes campaign and on May 19th from 11am-3pm there’s hosting sampling events at select Walgreens locations in the bay area (find all the info here!). You can grab some free samples of lots of P&G products we love (like the ones featured in this post today) to try out at home. Also, from now until 6/30, Walgreens is offering $5 off when you spend $20 or more on P&G products. A great way to jump start your spring cleaning.
3. Make a cleaning volcano in your garbage disposal. We all know what happens when you add vinegar to baking soda, it’s one of our children’s favorite science experiments. Making that same volcano in the garbage disposal not only cleans but entertains the kids as well. Pour about 1/4 cup of baking soda into the sink’s disposal, and then about a cup of vinegar and a few drops of Dawn Ultra Concentrated Dishwashing Liquid. Watch it erupt with foam and bubbles, and then sit for about 10 minutes. Wash it through with hot water and throw in a half a lemon, letting the disposal run through and get a nice fresh clean.
4. Dusting dance parties. We love dance parties in the afternoon, and what better way to clean the surfaces while you work on your moves! Let the kids each take a turn with the Swiffer Duster as they prance around and living room. Such a fun and efficient way to clean the room.
7. Paper Building blocks. Make unloading groceries fun by stacking them first. Great for things like Charmin Ultra Strong Toilet Paper Mega Rolls and Puffs Plus Lotion Facial Tissues. See how tall of a tower you can make with the toilet paper and tissues, and then let a little one knock it over too. How many do you think you can stack, and what method is most successful? The kids will love to come up with different ideas on how it’s done.
How do you make chores fun in your home? Thanks to P&G for sponsoring this post, be sure to head to their Walgreens sampling event on May 19th!
Very simple yet powerful tips how to make house chores more engaging for kids. It is proven that kids doing house chores are more successful in life, they grow up more responsible and independent personalities. Great initiative!

Lovely, I have never thought of making fun so that they can slowly learn to help, I have been doing it all by myself. Thank you for enlightening.

I make a less chemical stain remover as well. Equal parts baking soda and Dawn liquid soap ( same as in your pic above ) then 3 times hydrogen peroxide and 3 times water. It works great! I’m interested in trying your version 🙂
These are all awesome ideas! We love Dawn in our home!

I absolutely hated cleaning when I was a kid – I was THAT lazy! If my parents had used some of these methods, maybe it would’ve been different, haha! 🙂
