Do you like biking around your city? It’s my favorite way to get anywhere (as long as weather permits). Today we’re joining my friend Sandra in San Francisco as she runs errands for her son’s birthday party with Uber Bike…
I was so excited to find out about the brand new Uber Bike service. Here’s what you need to know about it:
Right now it’s only offered in San Francisco, but hoping they’ll be expanding to other cities soon.
They’re powered by JUMP bikes and are parked around the city on regular bike racks that you rent through your same Uber app. You can see the locations of the bikes near you, then you choose one to reserve on the app. Once you get to the bike, you enter a code given through the app to unlock the bike.
The bike has a motor so you can charge up those San Francisco hills easy peasy.
The cost is $2 for 30 minutes, and when you arrive at your destination, you can lock it back up to any bike rack.
First we stopped at Noe Valley Bakery to pick up a cake.
“My son is addicted to their mini cupcakes and m&m cookies. It’s so cute to see him “pay” for a treat with some quarter he found on the road – the staff there are always so friendly and play along. Saturday mornings my son and I drop my daughter off at her ballet class and walk down to the bakery. It’s a sweet little mummy-son routine that is hard to give up!”
Lastly, we grab a gift at Sandra’s favorite toy stores (and mine too!), Mapamundi Kids.
“Ever since we moved to Noe, Mapamundi has been a mega pull for our family. Estaban (with a little help from his wife Lorena who founded Petit Collage) has curated the most gorgeous collection of toys, books, gifts and clothing. It has been a last-minute life saver for us on practically every trip to a birthday party.”

Our town in Georgia got rental bikes like this right before we moved to Utah last summer. They’re seriously so fun!
