Belt bags, the fanny pack’s cool cousin, have come back on the scene and I have to say, I’m a huge fan. I wear my constantly. Today Sarah’s helping me model how I like to style it, and some favorites if you’re in the market for one…
What do you think of the belt bag look? I’ve seen a lot of high fashion versions that are so mini I can’t imagine you can fit anything more than a tube of lipstick in them, but I’m really loving the casual, utilitarian vibe of these midsize versions. Also, I didn’t anticipate the freedom I’d feel from not having a purse hanging on my shoulders all the time!!
This one I bought from Awl Snap on Etsy is only a tad more understated than the purple/pink one I had in 7th grade. When I grew out of the style, it became my piggy bank filled with babysitting money in high school.
There are a lot of fancy, glam versions out there (not totally my jam), but this one is definitely on the casual side and does really well with a lot of casual looks from jeans to casual dresses and jumpers. Any ‘every day’ sort of belt bag, if you will. I love it because you can also extend the strap to be a cross body bag if you’re not feeling the belt bag look on any given day.
One last note, it feels a bit bulky to wear if you’re also wearing a jacket, so definitely I’d consider this belt bag a warmer weather accessory (oh yes, coming soon!)
Breaking up a casual dress. It’s a utilitarian accessory, so be careful trying to dress it up too much. For an easy linen dress like this one, it’s a great way to break up the color block and add a hint of your natural waist line.
Linen dress from Urban Outfitters (similar one I love)
I love that bag!

I’ve always been such a fan of this trend – also known as the fanny pack. It’s so cute and convenient. I love yours, super minimalist. I would get it myself! 🙂
