• The Red Balloon Halloween Costume

Today we have a really simple costume based off of Albert Lamorisse’s beautiful French children’s film, The Red Balloon (you can watch the full short film on youtube here). It’s so easy, no crafting and you probably can collect most everything in your closet.

Here’s how to put it together…

To collect:  Grey sweatpants, grey sweatshirt/sweater, grey scarf or turtleneck, brown boots

To make: Get your balloon blown up with helium at your local grocery store. Attach a white string.

To buy:  A big round balloon ($5 from Oh Happy Day Party shop)

    Bonus points: A baguette!

Thanks Declan, Allie + Liam for coming to model!

So this costume is actually banned in a lot of areas b/c of the reference to It and imitation kidnappings. Just a heads up.

I’ve never heard of the red balloon. Sounds like an interesting film, will check it out.

Cute costume and beautiful idea. I think anything with a red balloon is going to be seen as a reference to IT though.
