Since Edie was a baby I’ve loved any kind of pin up games for birthday parties (here was the first one we did for Edie’s first birthday). We did another for her second birthday, and one for Dot’s first birthday last week. Today, we’re making a modern princess pin up game. There’s really no avoiding it, at some point your kids will be obsessed with princesses and want a princess party! It’s really simple to make, makes a nice party decoration, and is a classic party game we all love. Here’s how to do it…
This post is in partnership with Dynacraft’s Disney Princess campaign. Make a 15 second video answering the question, “What does it mean to be a princess?” and you can enter to win the Disney Princess carriage.
Here’s Edie’s submission for the contest, her answers crack me up:
To make the pin up party game:
Print out a photo of the birthday child as an engineering print at your local Fed Ex or Kinkos store. It should be on regular printer paper in black and white.
Time to decorate! We added string, a balloon on craft foam paper so it sticks out a bit, and a birthday crown for the birthday princess.
Next we added some pom poms for the crown. Again, any 3-D element makes it that much more fun.
Tape to the wall with washi tape.
Next we threw some drawing paper down and drew the outline of some princess outfits for the kids to decorate and then pin up on the birthday girl’s picture.
The party guests can pick an outfit and color it however they want.
Next, we cut them out and add a bit of tape on the back so they can try to stick it on the right position.
As for blind folding, we give them a twist for each year old they are (so older kids have a slightly more difficult, dizzier time than younger). The other rule for pin up games for older kids is that where their hand lands is it. You can’t move and feel around to get the right spot.
Such an easy, fun game for a modern princess party!
