Visiting Our Favorite San Francisco Spots

We’ve only been in the Oakland Hills a short six months, but for Edie a lot of the memories from our time in San Francisco are starting to fade. So last week we took a short tour to remind Edie (and introduce Dot!) to some of our favorite spots in partnership with Enterprise CarShare.  Here are a few places in our old stomping grounds we revisited…

Enterprise CareShare is a member-based service offering automated rental vehicles by the hour, the day, or overnight. Which means no counter or office—it’s all done by an app and a card you scan on the vehicle’s windshield! Public transportation in the city can be a pain with little ones, so I love having the privacy of our own car to venture about for a day. So when Jared leaves on ski trips or needs the car for a day at work, we can still run the errands we need to keep our day going smoothly.

Here are a few favorite spots we made sure to hit:

Golden Gate Bridge. When we lived in the city we were just 4 minutes away from this iconic landmark and would cross it all the time to head up north to Marin. Now it’s a happy, rare occasion to find ourselves near the bridge so we had to say hi really quick!

Our favorite place to view the bridge is here at Chrissy Field, or across the bridge and up the winding Conzelman road that heads up Hawk Hill. We would often take sunset adventures up that hill for some spectacular views of the bridge and Marin Headlands.

Stow LakeWe used to live right across the street from Golden Gate Park and Stow Lake was one of our favorite spots to head in the afternoon. You can take a boat ride, hike to a waterfall, or feed the ducks. The boat house was beautifully restored a few years ago and also serves food, so we sat and had some lunch here as well.

Other favorite spots in and close to Golden Gate Park are The Academy of Science, DeYoung Museum, Ocean Beach, and Land’s End.

The Ice Cream BarThis cute soda fountain ice cream shop is tucked away in the neighborhood of Cole Valley. We could reach it with a short bike ride through Golden Gate Park from our old apartment. The ice cream + homemade fudge is amazing (this strawberry ricotta one was incredible). But it’s the homemade waffle cones and the unique ice cream soda flavors that really keep us coming back.

A couple other spots in this neighborhood I love are Zazie’s for brunch, Tantrum for toys, and Wasteland for consignment clothing in Haight Ashbury.
