Tuesday Tip: Midnight Snacks

What do you crave for a midnight snack? For this week’s Tuesday Tip (a new series I started last week) I asked the members of our Say Yes team what they grab to satisfy that late night hunger and here’s what they said…

Me: Jared and I both love popsicles (I’m a fudgesicle fan, Jared loves these raspberry/lemon/strawberry ones from Trader Joes). Relatively small amounts of calories, but satisfy that sweet tooth. Plus, you can’t really type while eating one so forces you off the computer a while to watch a show or chat together about the day. Jared swears these TJ popsicles are his weight loss secret!

Ashley, site manager + fashion editor: After we get the baby down for bed we usually watch Parks and Rec re-runs and eat popcorn. Once in a while, we crave kettle corn so we put a few spoonfuls of powdered sugar in our microwave popcorn after it’s popped and give it a good shake. It’s not as good as the real stuff but works great when you are in a pinch!

Sara A, project assistant: York peppermint paddy. Every night. Get your chocolate + mint fix!

Sarah I, project intern: I go for a bowl of cereal like Honey Nut Cheerios…unless there are cookies in the house. Cookies always win.

Brittany, food writer: Chocolate covered frozen banana bites! When I get extra time I make them in advance or to make things easier I sometimes buy the Dole’s Banana Dippers from Costco.

Kersey, assistant writer: I love kalamata olives. Great, now I want some!

frozen cherries! we buy the frozen tart cherries from costco and they are the perfect late night treat. i always need to munch on something while we watch tv, and these last a long time. most of the time i throw in a few chocolate chips too. yum.

I like whipped frozen bananas. The key is to remember to blend them before bedtime so it doesn’t wake the little one 🙂

I freeze bananas (usually the ones that are about to go bad) and then blend them with a splash of milk, so it’s like ice cream. The blender is loud so I puree the bananas right before I put my daughter to bed and keep in the freezer until she’s asleep. Then mommy snack time!

Love this new simplistic series. I always eat cheese. in any form.
