At an age when so many of my friends are having babies, I like to keep a fully stocked shelf of some of my favorite baby gifts handy for last minute presents. Whether I’m invited to a last minute baby shower, bringing a meal to a new mom and didn’t have time to also shop for a gift, or when a friend shows up with a new baby at my home and I just can’t let them leave with out a little something (wrapped or not).

I am entering this giveaway on behalf of a close friend who just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She chose elephants as a nursery theme. She didn’t have a traditional baby shower, and I know she would just love these gifts.

I love the animal blankies from Angel Dear. I give them to all the new babies I know and they usually turn into favorites!

I think something special is always a nice gift, seeing as the parents have likely bought all the essentials already. A nice outfit, some really great storage baskets. Something that they wouldn’t splurge on themselves.

I love to give diapers and something specifically for the new mom. I know that the baby will get TONS of things, but it’s so important not to forget about the mom that needs to keep caring for herself. Even if it’s as simple as some hand cream, lip gloss, tissues and candy 🙂

Post-baby I’m big on books. My kid can’t get enough of them and they need things that aren’t just for newborns.

My favorite shower gift is a home-sewn top knot baby hat. They’re so tiny and cute, and you can make them from recycled shirts and sweaters that are super soft for baby’s skin.

I like to give (and receive) adorable baby socks for baby showers. It’s not something a new mom either things about getting or wants to spend money on…but there is nothing cuter than a teeny tiny baby foot in a super cute or silly-themed sock.

I like to give something practical (off the registry of course) and then something they wouldn’t normally buy themselves. Something fancy.

My favorite gift to give is a favorite book. I also love to give blankets and sweet stuffed animals.

I like to give diapers with handmade baby shoes. Something that they will use, with something fluffy.

I love to give moby wraps usually. They are small enough to store in a purse or diaper bag for the just in case -something other baby carriers don’t quite have down yet. Also pjs. Pjs are the best because they are usually adorable and if the mom has a different style than you, she won’t feel uncomfortable about not using the pink onesie that says “Drama Queen” on it. Haha. Babies can wear any pjs -no one ever has to see them! 🙂

I love a soft organic cotton blanket and a vintage-inspired wooden toy. Can’t go wrong!

We received so many generous and useful gifts for our daughter that 19 months later, when our son was born (last week!), we didn’t require a whole lot. I think one of my favorite and practical gifts that would be great to have on hand to give is high quality bath towels and wash cloths. There is a huge difference in quality and the nice ones will last a long time through several children.
Unisex muslin swaddle blankets are also so helpful to have on hand.

I love filling a baby tub with tons of fun goodies. I wrap each thing separately with brightly colored ribbon and tissue paper. All the bath essentials new baby will need: soft towels, wash cloths, bath toys, soaps etc. The perfect gift for any new mom!

I love giving blankets (for really any occasion)! My thought is that no one can ever have too many blankets!

I love the chewable teether toys, so functional and it makes it easier to always have one on you, you can wear it!

Oh my gosh this is a lovely give away. I love giving fuzzy baby slippers at showers because there’s nothing quite as cute as the scale of a tiny soft shoe. And of course, a bottle of wine for mama for when she’s ready to get back into the game!

I know it’s boring, but I usually try to give the things people forget: grooming kits, thermometers, extra pacifiers. Also, that giraffe is wayyy cute.

I’m the first amongst my close friends to have a baby (3 weeks until due date!) so I’m still figuring out what makes the best gifts. Right now if pick a few gender neutral rompers/sleepers/onesies. Everyone told us we’d gets lots of baby clothes but so far nothing. We have had a huge influx of adorable blankets though!

My mother hand knit an adorable sweater for our baby–so wonderful!

I love the idea of getting something nice for the mom, like lotion or perfume, as well as getting some cute outfits for the little one. For one of my friends, I got a Halloween costume for the baby that matched the ones our parents wore when they took us trick-or-treating all those years ago.
