5 Classic Pieces For Your Holiday Wishlist

This time of year I always re-evaluate my wardrobe in preparation for a holiday wishlist. Trends come and go but there are a few classic pieces that never go out of style and are fashionable and timeless season after season, year after year. The couple pieces I own on this list are ones I find myself wearing day after day, so it’s worth it to invest in one you really love!

Here are 5 classic pieces I think you should consider adding to your wishlist (if you don’t own them already!):

No. 1 Wide Leg Trouser Jeans
Although skinny has been the jean style of choice for a few years now, the wide leg trouser jean will always be a no-brainer flattering choice. If they’re feeling too 70s for you right now, add some more current pieces like cheetah oxfords and a wool panama hat.

 No. 2 Leather Riding Boots
It seems as though I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect pair of leather riding boots for more than a decade now. They’ll always be a timeless choice and ready for any weather. You can wear them with skinny jeans or your favorite flowy skirt.

 No. 3 Trench Coat
The trench coat came on strong as a menswear inspired trend a few years back, and now I can’t imagine my wardrobe without one! It’s for sure the most versatile coat I own and easy to dress up or down.

{trench- H&M, buttondown- Splendid from Soel Boutique, necklace- Forever21}

No. 4 A Little Black Dress (the kind your grandma wouldn’t wear)

We’ve all been told how crucial a good fitting little black dress is for our wardrobe. It’s timeless, flattering and bumps your fanciness up a notch for a date night. I love this one Emily picked out-the lace makes it more current and less ho-hum, but still chic and classic for a fancy event.

No. 5 Wool Panama Hat

You may not own one yet, but you should add it to your list asap. A wool panama hat is so stylish and chic, and ageless too. You see 15 yr olds and 80 yr olds wearing them and they all look fabulous! Throw that panama hat on with jeans and t-shirt and you’re ready to paint the town red.

@Danielle, I can’t afford Fryes right now, and I can’t sacrifice quality when buying shoes/boots because otherwise my feet ache, then my legs, then my back. I have been buying my shoes/boots at Clarks for the past two years. My knee high boots fit wonderfully and are very comfortable to wear. I usually wear them over skinny jeans but they can easily be dressed up!

Oh, everything looks just perfect! And now your sister makes me dream of a hair cut!

Great post! I’ve been looking for a good pair of riding boots for at least the past 2 years – with no luck! I was really hoping for a pair of Frye’s, but all the ones I’ve tried have either been too big in the calf – or if I couldn’t get my foot into them in the first place! :[ If I ever get back to NYC, I’m sure I could find the ones i want at the Frye store, but for now, I’m open to other brands. Anyone have any suggestions for boots with a smaller calf circumference??

I can vouch for those Fryes, I’ve had the Melissa Buttons for 3 years now and they’re my favorite boots.

lovely! The two items that have me drooling don’t seem to be listed (did I miss them) ? That beautiful striped shirt and the long black and gold necklace from the last shot. Can you share?

Apologies! The shirt is from Every, and the necklace is from forever 21 🙂

I can attest that the Frye Melissa Button boots are kick ass. I just wore them to toddler Music Together class and will wear them for date night tonight – a true test!

Your sister and her boyfriend could make anything look good – hot dang.

Beautiful photos and your sister is gorgeous! I totally agree, these items are absolutely essential. I especially love the jeans and the hat!
